I am researcher at the CNR since October 2020 working at the Laboratory for Applied Ontology (LOA) of the Institute for Cognitive Sciences and Technologies (ISTC). I started my career in academia with a pre-doctoral research position at the Institute for Formal Ontology and Medical Information Science (IFOMIS) at the Saarland University, Germany (2011-2013). In 2017 I got a PhD in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Trento, Italy. I defended a thesis on the use of ontologies for applications in product design and manufacturing and, in particular, on the use of knowledge representation techniques for CAD systems. Between 2013 and 2017 I was affiliated with the CNR (STIIMA and ISTC) as research fellow (assegnista di ricerca). In 2017-2018 I had a post-doc fellowship at the Laboratory of the Digital Sciences of Nantes (Ecole Centrale de Nantes and CNRS) France. In 2019-2020 I was granted a research fellowship at the Le Studium Loire Valley Institute for Advanced Studies with affiliation at the Centre for Advanced Studies on the Renaissance at the University of Tours, France.I do research in both foundational and application topics relative to the use of conceptual models and ontologies for product design, manufacturing, and the digital humanities (e.g., musicology, literary studies, etc.). I am also interested in logics, logic programming, business process modeling, enterprise modeling, research at the intersection between knowledge representation (KR) and robotics, as well as KR and machine learning.
