ERF 2017 - Workshop "Towards Fully Autonomous Robots: Challenges for AI Planning in Robotics"
The 22nd of March 2017, the Workshop "Towards Fully Autonomous Robots: Challenges for AI Planning in Robotics" will be held within the European Robotics Forum 2017 (ERF 2017). Andrea Orlandini is one of the organizers of the Workshop.
This ERF Workshop constitutes a follow up of a scientific initiative, named PlanRob, started within the Planning and Scheduling (P&S) research community with the twofold aim of creating a common long-term forum where researchers from both P&S and Robotics communities can discuss about common interests and efforts, figure out shared challenges and discuss expectations about future developments. In this perspective, the aim of this ERF workshop is to bridge the gap between researchers and practitioners in P&S and Robotics, pushing recent technological advancements out of the laboratories for deploying a new generation of Intelligent Robots endowed with flexible, adaptive and goal-oriented behaviors, long-term autonomy, advanced interaction with humans in structured collaborative activities.
The ERF 2017 is the meeting point for robotics in Europe, bringing together over 700 researchers, engineers, managers, and a growing number of entrepreneurs and business people from all over Europe. ERF 2017 will be from Wednesday 22 March 2017 to Friday 24 March 2017. The objectives of the forum are to: Identify the potential of robotics applications for business, the creation of jobs, and meeting societal needs; Discuss the state of the art and most recent breakthroughs in applications; Learn about new robotic business opportunities, including those arising through establishment of spin-offs, and ongoing initiatives in robotics within Europe; Influence decision makers and strengthen collaboration between stakeholders in the robotics community.
