I study collective behaviour and distributed cognition, applying the insights from biological systems to the engineering of artificial ones. In particular, I work with robot swarms and I participated to the most important European projects in the field, namely Swarm-bots and Swarmanoid.
My research interests span over self-organisation, complex systems, collective adaptive systems, swarm robotics and evolutionary robotics. The latter subject has been my main research focus in the past. Otherwise, I mainly study distributed cognitive systems in general, and swarm robotics systems in particular.
