Susanna Mayer, child psychologist, carries out research at the Human Development and Society Group on cognitive development and socialization processes in early childhood. In particular, she has studied interactions between young children during pretend play, their exploration of the physical properties of objects, communication between children and adults in early childhood education and care centers. She has participated in several studies on the needs of migrant families with young children and on the inclusion of children from migrant families in educational services. She has investigated the role and functions of the coordinators of early childhood education and care services in Italy.
