Domenico M. Pisanelli (Rome, 1959) graduated in Electronic Engineering (Computer Science in Medicine) at the University of Rome in 1986. Since 1987 he is researcher at CNR (National Research Council). His main research interest is in the field of medical informatics (expert systems in medicine, computerized guidelines, and ontologies in medicine). From 1990 to 2001 he held an appointment at University of L'Aquila for teaching computer science in the Engineering Faculty, from 2004 to 2007 he has taught "Biolanguages and Bioarchives" at Milan Polytechnic University. He currently teaches computer science at UNINT University in Rome. He is involved in several national and international projects on computer science in medicine and in European working groups on standardization in health care. He acted as project evaluator and reviewer in the UE e-Health sector. He edited the books "Ontologies in Medicine" and "New Trends in Software Methodologies, Tools and Techniques, Proceedings of Somet 2007" (with Hamido Fujita) both published by IOS-Press and "Telecardiologia", published by SEU.
