Principio7. Valutazione: partecipativa, democratica e trasparente

In 2007 the network of journals Children in Europe has issued a document aiming at elaborating a European approach to policies on services for young children. The document is articulated in ten principles that were submitted to discussion of European experts. Principle 7 concerns evaluation of the services and states that quality is co-constructed within a participatory process and evaluation is to be considered a political and ethical act and it should follow a democratic process, giving everyone the opportunity to discuss their view and handing responsibility for evaluation to children and their families. This paper discusses the approach in relation to the development of services for young children in Europe and to more recent methodological issues
