Profile

Position:
Senior Researcher
Short profile:

Maria Vittoria Giuliani has been working for many years at ISTC-CNR leading the Environmental Psychology Unit as a senior research scientist.  She actively participated in the International Association for People-Environment Studies, having served on the IAPS Board from 1990 to 1998.  She has been a permanent member of the Board of Referees of the Italian Ministry for the University and Research.  She has been involved in environmental psychology for the over twenty years as responsible of many research projects, affiliated lecturer and member of the doctoral programme in social psychology at the University of Rome "La Sapienza".

Her continuing line of research concerns users' residential needs and satisfaction across the lifespan.   More recently, this perspective has been widened, focussing on assistive technology for elderly people both at home and in sheltered housing, and on strategies for improving communication with patients with sensorial disabilities in hospitals.  Another important  line of research concerns the concept of attachment to place and psychological consequences of mobility.

She retired in 2009 and since then she has been research associate at the PST Lab collaborating to their activities on experimental analysis of new technologies for the aging population.
